Vitamin E is nature's master antioxidantLester Packer
Abstract: Oxidative destruction of subcellular membrane lipids has been implicated along with other types of intracellular oxidative damage in the normal aging process and in the pathophysiology of anumber of chronic diseases. Complex antioxidant mechanisms exist to limit the effects of these reactions. Vitamin E quenches free radicals effectively in small amounts, and evidence of its usefulness as a curative and preventive agent is accumulating. Results of controlled long-term intervention trials should be available soon. |
