Abstract: One problem in writing editorials for Medical Problems of Performing Artists is a consequence of the need to complete them in advance of publication. What is deemed currently important as I write is often both stale and irrelevant 4 months later. Thus, if I write about what is of interest now in August, the Athens Olympics, this does not ensure that it will be particularly timely when it is read in December. However, in August, I also re-read Dr. Bonnie Robson's article, in this December issue of MPPA, about competition in the arts and sports and could not help making associations between her article and the Olympics that I was watching on television.
