Abstract: In March 2007, 15 health professionals and artists from the United States travelled to Cuba to learn firsthand about the Cuban healthcare system and also to see the Cuban approach to artists¿ health and safety. We went as part of a U.S.-licensed charter program with the goal of research exchange. This program offered us a view of the healthcare facilities and presentations with health professionals as well as rehearsals and performances by performing artists and performing arts students. We met the healthcare personnel who care for the artists and learned about techniques they use to mitigate health hazards to these artists. Thus, in our brief glimpse of Cuba, we were graciously hosted, entertained, and informed.
