Abstract: Recent studies have demonstrated that nicotine, the addictive substance in tobacco, has measurable effects on numerous physiological systems, including the immune system. Current investigations in many laboratories are focusing on understanding the precise mechanisms of action of nicotine on immunomodulation, in addition to studying the biological significance of nicotine-induced immunomodulation on health.
