Abstract: Virtual colonoscopy is one of the most exciting developments in gastrointestinal radiology in the past decade. It is a noninvasive, well-tolerated, and safe technique for evaluating the colonic mucosa that has the potential to revolutionize colorectal cancer screening. Preliminary results indicate that the accuracy of cirtual colonoscopy for polyp detection exceeds that of barium enema and approaches conventional colonoscopy.
